ULEZ
To comply with the ULEZ standards, when entering the zone, coaches must meet as a minimum the Euro VI standard by 8th April 2019.
In order to reduce pollution in London, all coaches operating in the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) must be Euro VI. London's ULEZ operates in the centre of the capital, in the same zone that’s used for the congestion charge. This runs from Victoria and Hyde Park in the west to Tower Bridge in the east, and from Euston Road in the north to Elephant & Castle in the south.
As a minimum, all our Tour Coaches meet the Euro IV emissions, with our latest coach a Van hool EX16M powered by a DAF Euro VI engine. All our Vehicles have Tracking System fitted, provided by TomTom (Webfleet), this allows us to:
- Real time tracking, providing driver information, location, and speed
- Monitor any unnecessary Idling of any coach
- Maximising the utilisation of our vehicles, reducing mileage with deployment of the nearest vehicles
- Route optimisation, reducing unnecessary driving
- Generates fleet reports, showing any improper fuel use
At Sharpes of Nottingham we are committed to help reduce our Emissions and Carbon Footprint. As a part of this commitment, we have also invested in an extensive fleet upgrade which involves the installation of Eminox CRT particulate filters. The CRT® system is a closed diesel particulate filter which reduces particulate matter by more than 90% as well as reducing hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
The objective is to operate and maintain a Greener Fleet of Coaches.
To comply with the LEZ standards, when entering the zone, coaches must meet as a minimum the Euro IV.
In order to reduce pollution in London, all coaches operating in the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) must be Euro IV. London's LEZ operates within the M25.
ULEZ Expansion is coming - October 2021
From 25 October 2021 the ULEZ boundary will be extended to create a single larger zone bounded by the North and South Circular Roads. If you are driving any petrol or diesel vehicle within this enlarged area you will also need to meet new tighter emissions standards or pay a daily charge.
This daily charge is in addition to the weekday Congestion Charge if you drive in central London as well. Vehicles using the North and South Circular Roads and not going into the ULEZ will not be charged.
