THE BEAUTIFUL YORKSHIRE DALES SCENIC TOUR

Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales, an outstanding place to explore!  It has many moods; it can be wild and windswept or quietly tranquil with valleys full of hay meadows, drystone walls and barns. We travel to Harrogate where the Spa history continues to shape the town with several superb spas, including the original Turkish Baths in the iconic Royal Baths building in the centre of town, the Royal Pump Room Museum, documenting the importance of local mineral springs. Opposite the Museum is the beautiful Valley Gardens with 17 acres of formal gardens and woodland. Historical buildings include the Magnesia Well Pump Rooms, the Sun Pavilion, and the Sun Colonnade. There are many shops in Harrogate plus restaurants and bars including Betty’s Tea Rooms. This afternoon enjoy the great dales scenery as we travel to Grassington located in Upper Wharfdale and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Discover a bustling cobbled market square, fringed by shops offering everything from practical essentials to totally tempting luxuries, art galleries, crafts and open studios.  There are friendly cafés, restaurants and cosy hotels for refreshments. Grassington is the home of the fictional market town of Darrowby in All Creatures Great and Small, the 2020 television series set in 1937. Based upon the classic James Herriot books written by Alf Wight which follow the adventures of a young country vet in Yorkshire. There is a Yorkshire Dales National Park Information Centre, plus Toilets at the coach park. We return via Skipton on route back to Nottingham
