HOlt and Stody Lodge Rhododendrons with Cream tea

Friday 14th May

Discover Holt with the high street and hidden Victorian yards packed with over 200 independent shops, art galleries, antique stores, and tea rooms.  Landmark locations include the 240-year-old department store Bakers and Larner’s.  Stody Lodge Gardens in North Norfolk is renowned for the riot of colour that appears in its 14-acres each May.  It is known as one of East Anglia's most dramatic spring gardens with an unusually intense planting of over 200 varieties of brightly coloured azaleas and rhododendrons.  These magical blooms are softened with magnolias, camellias, mature and specimen trees - all underplanted with carpets of spring bulbs, bluebells and lily of the valley. Its Azalea Water Gardens - 2,000 plants over 4-acres, is believed to be the largest single planting of azalea mollis in the UK.  We complete the visit with a cream tea.
