Step back into the golden age of steam at the Severn Valley Railway, running trains for over 60 years, the Severn Valley Railway is one of the UK’s leading heritage railways and a great family day out. Join us for an unforgettable day out, as you travel over 16 miles of restored railway, seated in lovingly restored period carriages and hauled by vintage steam and diesel trains. One of the best attractions in Worcestershire and Shropshire. You’d think that Kidderminster Town’s impressive station building and concourse are straight from the Edwardian era, but they were in fact built in the mid-1980s, as a faithful recreation of a 1900s GWR station. Onsite, you can visit the Valley Suite for refreshments, the King & Castle pub for something stronger, or pay a visit to the gift shop. Kidderminster Railway Museum has a fabulous collection of railwayana for you to see and experience! Ensure you don’t miss out on the Coal yard miniature railway, offering a wonderful train ride in miniature style – look out for your favourite locomotives bought down to a small scale. After lunch we travel by steam train (subject to availability) to Bridgnorth where you will have some free time, take a trip on Bridgnorth Cliff Railway, Britain’s steepest inland funicular railway, and browse the town’s dozens of independent shops before returning home.
