Saturday 6th August

Nestled in the Fen country of East Cambridgeshire, lies Ely a great destination.  The sight of the magnificent Cathedral, either up close or from across the river, sets the tone for a day of historical research, cathedral gazing, river cruising, antiquing or just shopping in the modern precinct and the Saturday market.  An intriguing visit is to Oliver Cromwell’s House, the Lord Protector of England from 1653-1658.  He lived in this half-timbered house from 1636 to 1646 with his wife, Elizabeth, and several of their children.
