Wednesday 17th August

We visit the award-winning Ashwood Nurseries a traditional plant nursery and garden centre in the West Midlands.  John’s Garden is a wonderful three acre private garden created by nursery owner John Massey with informal borders, island beds and woodland dells set against the beautiful backdrop of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.  The Tea Room is open for refreshments with beautiful garden views and a delightful terrace.  We continue to Wightwick Manor this afternoon, the family home of the Manders who, over two generations, created this magnificent house and its amazing collection.  Discover treasures such as William Morris wallpaper, Pre-Raphaelite art and De Morgan pottery scattered throughout the house.  The gardens with wide lawns, yew hedges and roses, make it an idyllic time capsule of Victorian nostalgia.  There is a shop selling arts, crafts and plants and a Tea Room serving tea/coffee and sweet treats.
