BANBURY and THENFORD ARBORETUM SNOWDROP WALKS
Saturday 17th February 2024
This morning we will travel to Banbury known as the
‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’, a charming waterside
market town steeped in history. The River
Cherwell and Oxford Canal provides a stunning
backdrop to a wealth of culture, entertainment,
retail and dining that can be found in the heart of
town. Enchanting streets and historic architecture
entwined with the vibrant, contemporary Castle
Quay Shopping Centre, hosts a variety of high
street names, independent stores and traditional
local markets. Famous for the nursery rhyme ‘Ride
a cockhorse’ and its delectable Banbury cakes, it
has a little something for everyone. This afternoon we visit Thenford Arboretum home of the Heseltine family and spread out over seventy acres, featuring a collection of more than three thousand different trees and shrubs, together with extensive herbaceous borders, water gardens, an alpine trough garden, a sculpture garden, a rose garden and a rill. Enjoy the snowdrop walks where you will see extensive collections of over 600 different snowdrop species and cultivars. There is a café serving tea coffee and cakes in the Church.

The Creative Craft Show is back and the show is a haven for knitting, cross stitch, paper crafting, jewellery, dressmaking and stitching enthusiasts, offering all the very latest supplies, ideas, and innovations in the craft and hobby world. Here you will find everything from kits, charts and patterns to fabrics, yarns, threads, and buttons. You will have opportunities to gain advice from industry experts, as well as the chance to try something new in our workshops. Your ticket enables you to access Sewing for Pleasure and also Fashion and Embroidery.
